39 & Fine as Wine…I like to drink it too.

IMG_4920Another birthday has come and gone and I’m embracing 39. Knowing I’m knocking on 40 boggles my mind and is an ever present reminder that time really does fly. I’m looking forward to what 39 has in store for me.

Part of my birthday celebration was spent in #Shreveport. I played craps for the first time. I’m not sure if it was beginner’s luck or what but let’s just say I came out WAYYYYYY ahead. Oh, I was also introduced to Southern Maid Donuts. Words cannot describe the deliciousness of the perfect donut! I don’t like glazed donuts but I was dying to get back to that place before leaving Shreveport.

On my actual birthday, I spent time at the @TheBriarShoppe with some of my favorite people. My BFF came to town to celebrate with me and I had dinner at an amazing little restaurant, Benjy’s. I savored the delicious short ribs with jalapeno grits and roasted potatoes. Good food, good company, good times! I enjoyed my birthday.

I’m saving the real shenanigans for my 40th birthday. Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed offullsizeoutput_37c0 going to #Australia. I cannot tell you where that dream comes from. Perhaps it was around the time that I learned Kangaroos are native to Australia. No idea, but I’m looking forward to experiencing Australia next year.

This past week I spent time in Nashville. I’ve been before so I didn’t do the tourism thing. However, I have to recommend a restaurant called Cabana. They describe their cuisine as southern comfort. The food was delicious and I loved the atmosphere and the set up. They offer private cabanas. While there’s just a sheer drape for “privacy”, I think it’s a cool concept. They also appreciate the ladies. They have great lady’s specials and happy hour is a must.

Finally, the kid is coming to Houston in a couple of weeks and I’m so excited. He has his driving permit and has been driving in #Washington.  Apparently he’s supposed to be the designated driver (not in the sense of driving drunk people around) while in driver’s ed. I’m a tiny bit concerned about him driving in this crazy #Houston traffic. I may need to get a prescription for Xanax to sit in that passenger seat! Just kidding…He swears he’s a safe driver and I believe him. But the biggest surprise awaits him!

Living life and it’s really good.

Do you Thrive? I Do!
